The next new moon falls on Tuesday 14 July. The full moon, the Buck Moon, rises on Wednesday 29 July.
As we await the New Moon and the Buck Moon, this month brings centring energy. We are halfway through the year, a time to reflect on the first half and plan for the next. This moon is called the Buck Moon, as the male deer have started growing their new antlers to step into a new era. This is our chance to join them in reflection and rejuvenation.
Whether it’s exploring somewhere new with your dog, spending more time outdoors, or simply slowing down enough to notice the world around you, this season invites us to reset with intention.
As the Buck Moon rises, take a moment to ask yourself: what do you want from the rest of this year?
Coastal update
The recent heatwave hasn’t just been enjoyed by beachgoers.
A small herd of deer has been spotted cooling off in a Hayle Estuary tidal pool, taking an unexpected swim to escape the summer sun. It’s a lovely reminder that we’re never the only ones enjoying the coastline.
With the Buck Moon rising this month, it’s hard not to think of those same deer continuing their quiet summer ritual, soaking in the Buck Moon energy from the rays and tide, helping them grow a fresh set of antlers: a symbol of strength, renewal and the changing seasons.
Nature has its own rhythm.
Walk journal
The woods felt different that morning.
The canopy offered welcome shade as Bumble wandered ahead, weaving between fallen trunks as if they’d been left there just for him. Every log became a balancing beam. Every clearing an invitation to play.
We paused at the edge of a newly opened view and spotted them.
A herd of around thirty deer rested quietly beneath the wide branches of an ancient oak. Hidden amongst the long grass, only the occasional flick of an ear or the soft outline of fresh antlers gave them away. We stood beneath our own oak, watching from a respectful distance, careful not to disturb the calm they had found.
For a few quiet minutes, nothing else mattered.
As we continued, an ice cream in the National Trust gardens felt like the perfect excuse to linger a little longer before following Bumble’s nose down a narrow footpath beside the walled garden. The long grass was full of stories left by other dogs and wildlife. Every few steps brought another scent worth investigating.
The Buck Moon is often seen as a reminder of quiet growth. While the deer’s antlers continue to strengthen through summer, it’s easy to forget that nature rarely rushes. Some of its most remarkable moments happen when we simply stop long enough to notice them.
This walk was one of those moments.

From the workshop
We’ve launched.
It’s a mixture of excitement, anticipation, and a little bit of nerves. But mostly, we’re just incredibly happy to finally share Salty Nova with the world.
The idea was born during a conversation overlooking the sea on a June afternoon last year. But if I’m honest, it started long before that.
It started the day I brought home my little ginger bear, Bumble.
Like so many dog owners, we spent our weekends exploring beaches, woodlands and winding footpaths. Along the way, I found myself searching for products that felt as special as the adventures we were sharing. Something beautifully made, built for the outdoors, and designed with as much care as the memories we’d create wearing it.
I couldn’t quite find it.
So I decided to build it.
Now we’re jumping in with both feet, and all four paws, ready for whatever comes next.
